In the beginning...

 

1957 a group of men who had regularly attended the annual Pioneer Engineers show in Rushville, Indiana and who shared a common interest in model live steam engines came together to form a club, which they named “Indiana Live Steamers”. Although the majority were into steam traction engines, they were also interested in steam locomotives, stationary engines, marine engines, and…well, any and all things live steam. Meetings were held at various members’ workshops, as there was no club-owned facility. As time went on, more steam engine enthusiasts joined.

 

1957 – 1968 Through the sixties, interest in model steam engines slowly grew. By 1970, the roster included 109 names who were either members or potential members. Some of these folks who continued through the years as long term members included names like: Harold Ekstam, Bruce McClary, Carl and Brian Goodnight, Greg Bierck, Bob Young, Jim Beckley, Tom Hadley, , Harold Goforth, Dave Jones, Jim Fain, and Rick Weber.
